The story of a gear shift.

Some stories begin with a stroke of genius.
Ours begins with a stroke of the pedal.

The derailleur.

The one that creaks, skips, goes out of alignment, and breaks.
The one that throws your wheel off-axis, ruins a sprint or an entire descent.

What if you could do without it?

In 2004, a rider named Guy Cavalerie had had enough. He imagined something different: a bicycle gearbox robust, intuitive, and precise.

From the trails

to the workshops

For several years, Guy refined his prototypes. He tested, explored, adjusted. The trails were his laboratory.

In 2012, Effigear was officially founded in the Pilat mountains, alongside Cavalerie, a sister brand specialising in high-end MTB frames for enduro and downhill, designed to integrate this revolutionary gearbox.

Changing

the rules of the game.

We left behind the traditional derailleur – a system invented in 1905 by Vélocio in the Loire and left virtually unchanged for more than a century to design an internal mechanical transmission: protected, quiet, and ultra-efficient.

Our Mimic gearboxes deliver instant shifting even at a standstill, even under full load with an MTB-style shifter as natural as a mouse click.

Local production,

global impact.

Based in Maclas, in the Loire, we design, machine, assemble, and service all our gearboxes ourselves.

We work with a network of French subcontractors to keep control over quality, lead times, and customer relations.

Our products come with a 5-year warranty, are infinitely repairable, and built to last as long as you keep riding.

When mechanical intelligence meets electric power

By partnering with Valeo, we’ve taken a new step forward: the smart motor with an integrated automatic gearbox.

Un seul module, une seule logique : vous pédalez, le vélo s’adapte.

C’est simple, fiable, puissant, et conçu aussi bien pour les cargos, la logistique urbaine, que pour les déplacements du quotidien et les usages récréatifs.
